03 · The Event

Apex Damnation

Arcane Forge's first competitive Warhammer 40,000 event — and it's for everyone. Home brew or meta list, faction expert or first-time competitor, stat check army or narrative favourite. Everybody is here to learn, grow wiser, and enjoy the game together.

This is a 3-round 1v1 tournament. You'll be matched against players on a similar win path from round 2 onwards using BCP pairing. Each round you will play a mission based on your disposition matchup and the assigned table layout (A, B, or C) for that round — stated in the event rulespack.

Our Philosophy
  • Play by Intent: Communicate clearly with your opponent. Tell them what you're trying to do and confirm together whether the result is possible under the rules. No misconceptions about move distances or unit abilities.
  • No Gotcha Moments: It's common courtesy to remind your opponent of dangerous overwatch, reactive moves or heroic intervention threats. Nobody can remember every ability in their opponent's army. You don't have to share your tactics — just make sure they know what your units are capable of.
  • Sportsmanship First: This is a competitive event, but how you play matters as much as whether you win. Win graciously. Lose graciously.
04 · Army Composition

Building Your Roster

Roster Requirements
  • Maximum 2,000 points · 11th Edition rules · submit a single disposition in your army list that is available to your chosen detachment(s).
  • Submit your list on BCP under Player Information at the event page. Use the GW app or a third-party app to generate your list — it must follow GW format.
  • Use the latest points for 11th Edition up to one week before the tournament. Make sure your rules and apps are up to date.
  • List deadline: Sunday 23 August 2026 at 23:59. No refunds possible after this date.
  • Round 1 pairings published Saturday 29 August.
List Restrictions
  • Banned: No Legends units · No Fortifications.
Painting Standard — Battle Ready Mandatory
  • All models must be Battle Ready — GW's minimum painting standard. WYSIWYG is mandatory.
  • Proxies must be clear, easily distinguishable, and agreed with your opponent before the game.
Base Sizes — Strictly Enforced
  • Models must be on the current, officially designated base size for their unit.
  • Outdated or incorrect base sizes are not permitted.
Model Size & Line of Sight
  • Proxy, converted or customised models must closely match the height, width and overall volume of the official miniature.
  • Modeling for advantage is strictly prohibited — no intentionally lowering a model to hide behind terrain, or raising it to gain line of sight.
Weapons & Clarity
  • Major special, heavy or distinct squad weapons must be clearly identifiable to ensure an accurate game state.
  • Standard infantry rifle variants (e.g. Bolt Rifle patterns) and holstered sidearms/wargear are exempt from strict WYSIWYG.
Proxies & Consistency
  • Limited proxying is allowed for weapon options only if it is unambiguous and applied consistently across the entire army.
  • Mixed-weapon proxies within the same squad are not allowed.
  • All major conversions, 3D prints or significant proxies must be submitted to the TO for approval before the event.
05 · Tournament Rules & Pairings

How It's Run

General Rules
  • Rounds 1 to 3 · 3 hours each.
  • Mission: Determined by your disposition matchup for each round.
  • Terrain layouts are fixed per round — Round 1: Layout B · Round 2: Layout C · Round 3: Layout A. Find the layouts in the 40K app when setting up your match.
  • Terrain: We're debuting newly made 11th Edition terrain, which players set up themselves. Start setting up your table 15 minutes before the round begins.
  • Rules used: All official Warhammer 40K rules, FAQ & Errata (in the 40K app / Warhammer Community site) up to the cut-off date, plus the WTC FAQ & Specific Army FAQ.
  • Chess clocks: Recommended to ensure equal playing time. If you don't use one, you forfeit your right to accuse your opponent of slow play in most cases. If in doubt or disagreement, call a judge.
Pairings & Brackets
  • Modified Swiss System, managed via the Best Coast Pairings (BCP) app.
  • Round 1: Pairings generated completely at random. Club/team avoidance is active for the first round only, so local teammates don't play each other.
  • Rounds 2 & 3: Players are strictly sorted into Win/Loss brackets — you always play someone with an identical record (1-0 plays 1-0, 0-1 plays 0-1).
  • Within each bracket, players are ranked by total Battle Points (BP).
  • Final standings: Win/Loss record first, then total Battle Points, then Strength of Schedule (SoS).
  • Byes: With an odd number of players, a random player receives the Round 1 bye. In later rounds the bye goes to the player at the bottom of the standings. A bye awards a Win and a flat 70 Battle Points.
Conduct
  • The TO's ruling on any dispute is final during the event.
  • Slow play and stalling will result in a formal warning. Repeated misconduct may result in disqualification without refund.

⚠️ No ticket and no BCP registration = no play. Both are required. Make sure you have completed both before arriving on the day.
