Treats and Traitors
Treats and Traitors is a singles event built around casual, thematic play. It features custom scenarios, secondary objectives, and a twist that changes your army mid-tournament. List building restrictions limit the most competitive builds — the goal is fun battles with interesting armies, not min-maxed lists.
Thematic armies are actively encouraged. Have fun, be kind, and play the rules as intended.
- At the start of the event, each participant picks a gift from the Arcane Forge shop — a random miniature complete with stats, rules, and base extenders. This is your Treat Character.
- Worth around 150 points with special rules. May be fielded in any unit permitted by its rules.
- You may use your Treat Character in two of the three games.
- The miniature is yours to keep — take it home at the end of the tournament.
- In addition to your 1,500pt list, each player fields a Traitor Unit — a single core unit of approximately 200 points from the same faction, with no magic items.
- Round 1: Your Traitor Unit fights for you as normal.
- Rounds 2 & 3: Exchange Traitor Units with your opponent — their unit fights for you as a mercenary (subject to the Misbehaving Mercenaries rule). Your troops are not happy about this, so you gain 50 extra VP if the traitor unit is destroyed or fleeing.
Three Battles, Three Twists
All games are up to 5 turns. Deployment: roll-off, highest scorer picks zone and deploys first unit, then alternate. 15-minute warning: finish your current turn and conclude the game as fairly and quickly as possible.
- Scenario 6: Encirclement (Matched Play Guide)
- Secondary: Strategic Locations (4)
- 6 terrain features placed symmetrically by staff
- ✅ Treat Character in play
- Traitor Unit fights for its original owner — no extra VP for kills
- Defeat enemy Treat Character: +50 VP
- Scenario 5: A Chance Encounter (Matched Play Guide)
- Secondary: Domination + Baggage Train
- ~5 terrain features placed symmetrically by staff
- ❌ No Treat Character this round
- Exchange Traitor Units — field opponent's unit as mercenaries
- Opponent's Traitor Unit destroyed or fleeing: +50 VP
- Scenario 2: King of the Hill — central building instead of hill (no line of sight)
- Secondary: Strategic Locations (2)
- Building in centre (Special Feature) + ~4 terrain features
- ✅ Treat Character in play
- Exchange Traitor Units — field opponent's as mercenaries
- Defeat enemy Treat Character: +50 VP · Traitor destroyed/fleeing: +50 VP
- Round 2 requires a baggage train on a 60×100mm base. Don't own one? Let us know and we'll loan you one — email sbaggelaar@gmail.com.
