Pods, Power Levels & Play
Commander Day is built around one principle: every pod should feel fair and fun for everyone at the table. That means we match pods by deck power level — so nobody turns up with a casual tribal deck and gets stomped by a competitive 5-colour goodstuff pile.
Tell us your deck's rough power level when you register or at the door. We'll seat you accordingly.
Not sure what power level your deck is? Bring it along and ask at the counter — we'll have a look and seat you fairly. No wrong answers.
Rules & Expectations
- Communicate what you're trying to do. Commander is a social format — nobody enjoys being gotcha'd by a rule they didn't know existed.
- If there's a rules question, call one of us over. We'd rather pause the game than have a pod implode over a misread trigger.
- Have fun, be kind. Commander is a multiplayer social game — the stories and the chaos are the point.
- Table talk, politics, and diplomacy are all encouraged.
- Treat your opponents and the store staff with respect throughout the afternoon.
- If something feels unfun or unfair at the table, talk to us rather than at each other.
- Decks must be sleeved — unsleeved decks slow down shuffling and wear out fast on our tables.
- Multiple games can run in the afternoon — a pod that finishes early can run another game.
- You do not need to play the same deck all afternoon. Bring a second deck if you like.
- Proxies are welcome for casual and mid-power pods — ask if you're unsure for high-power.
Start Here
Commander is Magic's most popular format for a reason — it's deep, social, and almost infinitely replayable. If you've never played before, Commander Day is the best place to start.
Pre-built decks are available in store. Pick one up, bring it along, and we'll seat you in a casual pod. Everything you need to play is in the box — 100 cards, ready to go. If you get stuck on a rule mid-game, ask and we'll help.
Also running every Tuesday evening as part of TCG Game Night — a more casual drop-in Commander session for regular weekly play. More about TCG Game Night →
