Section 03

The Event

Treats and Traitors is a casual singles event built around shifting loyalties. Across three games your army composition never sits still — a unit you muster to fight for you may end up fighting against you, and a free character gifted by the Arcane Forge shop will stand at your side for two of your three battles. Thematic armies are encouraged, and list-building restrictions keep the most hyper-competitive builds out of contention. Have fun, be kind, and play the rules as intended.

The Traitor Unit

Alongside your 1,500pts list, muster a single core unit of your choice worth as close as possible to — but not over — 200 points, from the same faction, with no magic items. It fights for you in Game 1. In Games 2 and 3 you swap it with your opponent's Traitor Unit before the battle, fielding theirs as a mercenary unit instead (subject to the Misbehaving Mercenaries rule).

The Treat Character

At the start of the event, pick a gift from a series provided by the Arcane Forge shop — each contains a random miniature worth around 150 points, complete with stats and rules. This is your Treat Character, usable in two of your three games, in any unit whose rules allow it. Base extenders are provided so it fits units of different base sizes. The miniature is yours to keep at the end of the tournament.

Section 04

Army & List Composition

  • 1,500pts core army, built from Grand Army, Army of Infamy, or Legacy army lists
  • Renegade Lists by Square Based are allowed (rules update cut-off: 1 September 2026)
  • No allies, no special characters, no mercenaries in your core list
  • Grand Melee and Combined Arms rules from the Matched Play Guide apply
  • Max 2 of the same Character entry
  • Max 1 of the same Rare choice
  • Max 4 Wizard Levels total (Bound Spell items/upgrades count as 1 Wizard Level each)
  • No single character or unit may exceed 25% of your points (max 375pts)
  • Max 1 Sky Lanterns, max 2 Fanatics per unit
  • Traitor Unit added after your legal 1,500pts list is built — its points don't count toward the above restrictions
  • Free version of NewRecruit: build your list at 1,700pts to account for the Traitor Unit, and note which unit it is. Paid version: add a note describing your Traitor Unit and its points

Baggage Train

Game 2 requires a baggage train on a 60 x 100mm base. Don't own one? Let the organiser know in advance and Arcane Forge can lend you one.

List Submission

Submit your list on the tournament page at NewRecruit before 23:59 on 20 September 2026.
